Where to Buy a New or Secondhand Car
Once you’ve sold your old car, and you’ve done your research on what to look for in a new car, you can start looking at where you can buy it. With hundreds of thousands of vehicles – both new and secondhand – up for sale all over the country, there are plenty of options for where to find your new car.
As mentioned on the Car Upgrading tips page, it’s crucial that no matter where you buy your vehicle from, that you’ve seen an up to date professional inspection report for it. Without this, you are at risk of buying a car that causes you many problems in the near or distant future.
Below are the main options available for where you can find your new or second hand car.
Places to buy a new car
- Car dealerships – There are many local car dealerships in Melbourne, most that focus on a particular car brand (such as City Ford in Melbourne). They generally have extensive knowledge on all the difference models available, and can recommend one that best suits your needs and budget
Places to buy a secondhand car
- Car auction websites – As mentioned on previous pages, car auction websites are a great place to both buy and sell a car. You can search for a specific make or model of car, and even keywords (such as ‘hatchback’, ‘4 door’ etc)
- Facebook – If you have a Facebook profile, you can easily create a wall post stating that you’re looking to find a second hand car. You’d be surprised as to how many of your Facebook friends have a vehicle for sale themselves or know of someone looking to sell their vehicle! There’s also many Facebook local ‘buy and sell’ groups where you can browse through – there’ll be a number of different items on this group, but there’s likely to be a number of vehicles for sale too
